BIOeCON has established a Joint Development cooperation with PETROBRAS, the successful Brazilian oil company and leader in Bio-fuels to further develop, prove and commercialize the BiCHEM technology.

A joint BIOeCON -PETROBRAS team has been formed to conduct the first phase of the BiCHEM technology demonstration, which includes the design, construction and operation of a pilot plant, in the Netherlands.
The second phase will be the construction and operation of a viable demonstration plant, which will be conducted in Brazil.

The following quote from executive manager of PETROBRAS Research Carlos Tadeu da Costa Fraga puts the BiCHEM technology in a proper perspective:
“We foresee the use of the chemicals obtained through BICHEM process to produce advanced bio-fuels such as diesel components of high cetane, higher than ethanol energy density and zero smoke emission. Such technology has the potential to be to diesel what ethanol is nowadays to gasoline.”
