BIOeCON receives a grant for BiCEPS
BIOeCON recives a grant for BiCEPSBy BIOeCON
Last month the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Agentschap NL granted to Bioecon a subsidy for its Biceps project. This project is aiming to directly generate electricity from dissolved Biomass, whereat the high energy efficiency is expected. Bioecon is carrying out this project in cooperation with the Faculty Chemical Technology of Eindhoven's Technical University, where research is carried out by Prof. Dr. E. Hensen. Bioecon, indicated in Biofuels Digest as a Dutch pioneer in the area of Biofuels, laid the foundation of two other new technologies. The earliest technology is one of converting biomass into bio-fuel. This technology is placed in KiOR, an US joint venture, in which already a large capital is invested. The second new technology is Bichem. Through this technology biomass is converted into a special molecule, that can serve as raw material for fuel additives. With the use of granted subsidy BIOeCON together with TU/e will prove the concept and develop BiCEPS as its third successful conversion technology.
