BIOeCON's new Venture

After the successful launch of BIOeCON's Joint Venture KiOR, a new spin off is in the pipeline. Second of BIOeCON's projects named BiCHEM (see also the newsletter issue: 10) has reached the next step of the development.

BIOeCON's research project named BiCHEM will be soon formed into a JV. With this novel technology it is possible to produce a great pallet of chemical building blocks and high-quality fuel components with a simple and cheap process. Just as KiOR conversion technology can produce crude oil equivalent distillates from renewable feedstock, BiCHEM can produce from this source specialty chemicals and fuel additives that are nowadays still being produced from crude oil.

BiCHEM offers a unique possibility for production of different chemicals that can be used as additional or complete replacement of feedstock used nowadays, for instance as monomers for polymer production. One of the great advantages of BICHEM is that these chemicals are biodegradable. Just as all BIOeCON developed technologies BiCHEM does not stress the environment with the additional carbon dioxide.

Advantages of BiCHEM for the traditional industries can be seen in the option of a new largely available feedstock. Besides the possibility for the feedstock for the polymer production BiCHEM offers a feedstock for production of industrial lubricants, detergents and high-performance fuel additives.
